Know, oh brother, may God inspire you and us with a spirit coming from Him, that this website compiles information about manuscripts of the Ikhwān al-ṣafāʿ textual tradition.
The definition of what texts fall under the “Ikhwan al-safa” corpus for this website is deliberately broad. Alongside the core text Rasāʿil ikhwān al-ṣafāʿ and its sister-texts Risālat al-jāmiʾa and Risālat jāmiʿat al-jāmiʿa, the website also lists manuscripts of the Persian abridged translation Mujmal al-ḥikma. Also included are a number of personal abridgements or selections from the Ikhwanian corpus. Currently excluded are Lami’î çelebi’s Serefü-l-insân and the rich corpus of Ismāʿīlī texts which cite from the Ikhwanian corpus.
The data was compiled starting in 2019 from various catalogues, on-line databases, and from consultation of physical or scanned manuscripts. The data is continually updated and harmonised. The website automatically displays the latest version while archived versions may be found on GitHub. I am grateful to Aslisho Qurboniev, Omar Ali-de-Unzaga and Boris Liebrenz for their suggestions and contributions to the data collection for this page. These contributions are noted in the relevant data descriptions.
